When the forest fire consumed Kelan, he fell into the flames along with Kali and Karali, the two serpents who sheltered in the tree. From those ashes, Vayanattu Kulavan brought him back to life. Reborn with Kali and Karali upon his chest, Kelan emerged from the fire as Kandanar Kelan, a spirit forever bound to the flames.
